Diet: Herbivorous, feeding on forbs, mosses, lichens, leaves and twigs

Reproduction: The female is sexually mature at 3 years and the male at 5 years. Mating occurs between late July and early September. A single calf is born between late April and early June after a gestation period of 8.5 months, and is weaned after 1 year.

Longevity: Up to 20 years in the wild and in captivity.

Predators: Gray wolves.

Status: Not at risk.
