Diet: Carnivorous , feeding on small rodents, Arctic hares and a range of birds.

 

Reproduction: Sexually mature at 2 years. Mating and egg laying occurs

between May and July . The 4-10 eggs are incubated by the female for 33 days. The young fledge after 43 days.

 

Longevity: Up to 9 years in wild and 32 years in captivity.

 

Predators: Skuas, gulls, Arctic foxes and gray wolves.

 

Status: Abundant, not at risk.
