Diet: Herbivorous, feeding on leaves, twigs, forbs, mushrooms and fruits.
Reproduction: Sexually mature at 18 monthsMating occurs between October and November. The 1-3 fawns are born between late May and mid-June after a gestation period of 6.5 months, and are weaned after 4 months.
Longevity: Up to 10 years in the wild and 20 years in captivity.
Predators: Gray wolves, coyotes and pumas; young may also be taken by black bears and bobcats.
Status: Very common to abundant, not at risk. |
