Diet: Omnivore, feeding on roots, shoots, seeds, berries, and small prey including insects, amphibians, fish, reptiles and mammals.
Reproduction: Sexually mature at four years. Mating and egg laying occurs between late April and July. The 2 eggs are incubated by both the male and the female for 32 days. The young fledge after 90 days.
Longevity: Up to 18 years in the wild and 30 years in captivity.
Predators: Coyotes, bobcats and golden eagles; eggs and/or young may also be taken by gray wolves, corvidae, raccoons and certain birds of prey.
